Notification Settings

Notification Settings control what alerts you receive and how you receive them.

Where to Find It

Go to Settings → Notifications from the sidebar.

Notification Types

OpsGrip can notify you about: - Task assignments — When someone assigns a task to you - Task updates — Status changes on tasks you're involved with - Project milestones — Key project events and deadlines - On-call alerts — When you're the on-call contact and an incident occurs - Team activity — New member joins, role changes, onboarding updates - Inventory alerts — Warranty expirations, health score changes - OGI insights — When OGI surfaces a new insight about your environment - System updates — OpsGrip platform updates and announcements

Delivery Methods

For each notification type, you can choose: - In-app — Notification bell in the top bar - Email — Sent to your profile email address - Both — In-app and email - Off — No notification for this type

On-Call Notifications

On-call alerts have additional contact method options configured in the On-Call module. These can include phone calls and text messages depending on your escalation chain setup.

Microsoft Teams Notifications

If Microsoft Teams integration is enabled, certain notifications can also be sent to a Teams channel via webhook. This is configured in Settings → Integrations.

Auto-Filled During Onboarding

Phase 1 onboarding asks about your notification preferences, and those answers pre-fill these settings. Adjust them anytime as you learn what volume works for you.

Tips

  • Start with more notifications enabled and dial back as you settle in — it's easier to turn off noise than to miss something important
  • On-call alerts should always be on if you're in the rotation
  • Email notifications are useful for things that don't need immediate action but shouldn't be forgotten
  • If your team uses Microsoft Teams heavily, the webhook integration reduces the need to check OpsGrip for every update
