Data Ownership & Portability
Your data belongs to you. Here's what that means in practice.
You Own Your Data
Everything you put into OpsGrip — articles, inventory records, tasks, projects, team info, trip data, configurations — is yours. OpsGrip doesn't sell, share, or use your data for anything other than providing the service to you.
Data Portability
If you ever need to leave OpsGrip, your data goes with you. We believe in making it easy to leave, not trapping you with data lock-in.
Export options include: - Knowledge Base articles as individual files - Inventory records as CSV - Task and project data as CSV - Team member lists - Site and location data
What Happens If You Downgrade
When you downgrade to a lower plan: - Your data is never deleted - Features become unavailable, but the data behind them stays safe - If you upgrade again, everything is right where you left it
For example: If you have 50 KB articles and downgrade to Free (which allows 20), all 50 articles are preserved. You just can't create new ones until you upgrade or delete some.
What Happens If You Cancel
When you cancel your subscription: - Your account stays accessible in a read-only state for a grace period - Your data is preserved during this time - If you resubscribe, everything is restored - After the grace period, you'll receive notice before any data is removed
Module Toggles and Data
Disabling a module in Module Management hides the UI but never deletes data. Your inventory items, trips, tasks, and everything else persist behind the scenes. Re-enable the module and it all comes back.
Tips
- OpsGrip is designed so you never feel trapped — your data is always yours
- If you're evaluating OpsGrip, there's no risk in adding real data. You can always export it
- The module toggle system means you can simplify your interface without worrying about losing work
