Network Topology & IPAM

OpsGrip includes two powerful networking modules: Network Topology for visual mapping and IPAM (IP Address Management) for tracking your IP space.

Network Topology

What It Does

Network Topology gives you a drag-and-drop canvas to build a visual map of your network infrastructure. See how devices connect, identify single points of failure, and document your network for your team.

Building Your Map

  1. Go to Network Topology in the sidebar
  2. Drag device icons onto the canvas
  3. Draw connections between devices
  4. Label everything

Device Icons

OpsGrip includes 200+ device icons across 20 categories: - Routers, switches, firewalls - Servers, storage arrays, UPS - Access points, modems, load balancers - Printers, phones, workstations - Cloud services, virtual machines - And many more

Why It Matters

A clear network map means faster troubleshooting, easier handoffs between team members, and better planning for infrastructure changes. When something breaks at 2 AM, the on-call person can see exactly what connects to what.

IPAM

What It Does

IPAM tracks your IP address space — which IPs are assigned, which are available, and what's on each one.

Features

  • IP Heatmap Grid — Visual grid showing 254 IPs at a glance. See which are in use, which are free, and which have conflicts.
  • Subnets — Organize your IP space by subnet
  • IP Addresses — Detailed records for each assigned IP (hostname, MAC address, device type, notes)
  • VLANs — Track VLAN assignments and configurations
  • DNS — DNS record management
  • Scan History — History of network scans and changes

Tabs

IPAM is organized into tabs: Subnets, IP Addresses, VLANs, DNS, and Scan History. Each tab has its own view with filters and search.

Tips

  • Start your topology map with the core — router, firewall, main switch — then expand outward
  • Update the map whenever you add or move equipment. An outdated network map is worse than no map
  • Use IPAM's heatmap to quickly spot IP conflicts or find available addresses
  • Both modules are optional — disable them in Module Management if your team doesn't manage network infrastructure
