Global Search
Global Search lets you find anything in OpsGrip instantly — articles, inventory items, tasks, projects, team members, sites, and more — all from one search bar.
How to Open It
Press Ctrl+K (or Cmd+K on Mac) from anywhere in OpsGrip. A search overlay appears in the center of your screen. Start typing and results appear immediately.
You can also click the search icon in the top navigation bar.
What It Searches
Global Search looks across your entire workspace: - Knowledge Base articles — titles and content - IT Tasks — task names and descriptions - IT Projects — project names - Inventory Items — names, serial numbers, model numbers - Sites & Locations — site names and addresses - Team Members — names and roles - Settings pages — jump directly to a settings tab
How It Works
Results are grouped by type so you can quickly scan and find what you need. Click any result to jump directly to that item. The search is text-based and searches across titles, names, and descriptions.
Use Cases
- "Where's that article about resetting AD passwords?" — Search "reset AD password" and jump straight to it
- "What's the serial number for the conference room display?" — Search the device name
- "Who's the sysadmin again?" — Search by name or role
- "Where are the notification settings?" — Search "notifications" and jump to the settings tab
Tips
- Ctrl+K is the fastest way to navigate OpsGrip once you get used to it
- Use short, specific search terms for best results
- Global Search is an optional module — but it's recommended to keep it enabled for everyone's productivity
- Searches are scoped to your organization, so you'll only ever see your own data
