PaperCut Print Management

The PaperCut integration pulls printer data from your PaperCut NG or MF server into OpsGrip, giving you visibility into print infrastructure alongside your other IT assets.

What It Does

When connected, OpsGrip pulls: - Printer status — Online, offline, error states - Toner levels — Current levels for each cartridge - Page counts — Total pages printed per printer - Usage statistics — Print volume trends over time

This data appears in three places: 1. Print Stats tab on inventory items that match a PaperCut printer 2. Dashboard Printer tile for at-a-glance print fleet overview 3. Settings → Integrations for connection status

Setting Up the Integration

Step 1: Enable PaperCut Web Services API

In your PaperCut admin console: 1. Go to Options → Advanced 2. Enable the Web Services API 3. Note the API authentication token 4. Note your PaperCut server URL

Step 2: Connect in OpsGrip

  1. Go to Settings → Integrations
  2. Find the PaperCut NG/MF card
  3. Click Connect
  4. Enter your server URL and API token
  5. Test the connection
  6. Save

What Shows Up in OpsGrip

When OpsGrip matches a PaperCut printer to an inventory item (via IP address or hostname), a Print Stats tab appears on that item. It shows toner levels, page counts, and status — all from PaperCut.

Dashboard Tile

The Printer dashboard tile shows a fleet overview: how many printers are online, offline, or in error state, plus aggregate toner and usage stats.

PaperCut NG vs MF

Both PaperCut NG (for small/medium businesses) and PaperCut MF (for larger environments) are supported. The API interface is the same for both.

Tips

  • Toner level monitoring alone justifies this integration — knowing before a printer runs dry saves emergency supply runs
  • Add printers to your IT Inventory first, then connect PaperCut. The automatic matching works best when inventory items have accurate IP addresses
  • The dashboard Printer tile is great for a quick daily check on print fleet health
  • If you use Printix instead of PaperCut, see the Printix integration article — it provides the same data
